American Packaging Corporation’s Iowa facility compliments the Corporation’s full-service capabilities by adding superior flexographic reproduction, adhesive laminating of film, paper and foil substrates and manufacturing of a large array of styles and sizes of bags and pouches. This division specializes in packaging for products that require demanding barrier, odor, moisture and structural properties along with offering award winning flexographic reproduction. Our Story City, IA division has two side-by-side facilities and therefore has two focused processes.
The Flexographic Printing and Laminating facility features both intermediate and wide web flexographic presses with in-line lamination or coating capabilities. These presses are equipped with highly efficient VOC controls to handle solvent and water based inks and adhesives. Additional capabilities include 2- and 3-ply adhesive lamination of a full range of substrates, registered cold and heat seal coatings, breathable films and pattern applied anti-fog coatings along with modified atmosphere packaging technology. A Rotomec Laminator was built to American Packaging’s specifications to include dry bond (water or solvent based) and solventless adhesive laminations and is capable of applying post registered Rotogravure coatings. This facility is also equipped by the latest in computerized slitting and rewinding equipment.
Our in-house graphics department is able to receive artwork in Macintosh format, Adobe Illustrator, Freehand or Quark Xpress. They will handle all coordination of graphics and plates including pre-flighting of supplied files to reviewing color keys, digital and engraver proofs prior to being sent to the customer for ensured accuracy.
The Preformed Products facility manufactures bags and pouches with extrusion laminated, adhesive laminated and coated structures utilizing both rotogravure and flexographic printed methods. A wide range of structures are available for sensitive or hard to hold products.
Our extensive line of bags include: heat sealed bags providing sift resistance, moisture, oxygen and grease protection, pinch bottom film bags and the larger format K-Seal multi-layer laminated bags that can hold up to 50 lbs. Special features offered with our bags include serrated edge, thumb notch, tin tie reclosure, de-gassing valves, applied labels or booklets and insertion of printed material at high speeds during production using our INPAKIT® technology. We also offer a Stock Bag Program of unprinted bags in nine sizes and several different structures. With a minimum requirement of one full case, this gives a cost effective solution to test marketing, sampling or start up companies.
Our computerized PDI pouch machines produce 2 and 3 sided heat sealed and stand up pouches. The PDI equipment can run virtually all heat sealable films, plus paper/poly/foil/poly and poly coated kraft structures. In addition, high barrier saran laminated pouches can be produced providing just the precise barrier your product requires without costly over packaging. Different materials can be used on the front and back of the pouches. Value added features available with our pouches include; slide loc or reclosable zippers, c-shaped or re-enforced carrying handles, hang holes, tear notches or tear strings for easy opening, air release holes and de-gassing valves, laser score, wickets, multi compartment, pour spout fitments, contoured or a variety of shapes.
American Packaging’s products service many market segments, product types and package formats. Our full range of structures ideally positions the company to fulfill any flexible packaging need. The value we provide to you is our dedicated people, manufacturing excellence and customization. Our aspiration is to be your preferred supplier.
